| Weekly Funding Opportunity: Ludwick Family Foundation |
01/10/2006
Each week Neighborhood Networks provides potential funding sources to help centers develop and improve programs and services. Featured this week is the Ludwick Family Foundation.
Program Areas: Ludwick Family Foundation is a philanthropic organization committed to assisting groups that are working to make a positive difference in the world. Support includes tangible items that will remain with an organization such as new vehicles or equipment, equipment replacement and modernization, improvements to facilities, and educational materials. The Foundation gives grants to about 20 organizations each year. All grants are to be used exclusively for charitable public benefit purposes.
Eligibility: The Foundation awards grants to organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, known as nonprofit public charities. Organizations that have received a grant from Ludwick Family Foundation need to wait two years (from year progress report is due) before they are able to apply again.
The Foundation does not grant requests for:
· Salaries.
· General operating expenses.
· Travel expenses.
· Scholarships.
· Endowment funds.
· Fundraising events or capital campaigns.
· Feasibility studies or consulting fees.
· Advertising.
· Research.
· Political lobbying, voter registration, or political campaigns.
· Insurance or maintenance contracts.
· Printing expenses.
In addition, no requests are accepted from:
· Public or private schools (K-12).
· Universities or colleges.
· Child daycare/development centers.
· Fiscal agents.
· Libraries.
· Hospitals.
· Individuals.
Award Amount: Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000. Grants are made for a single year.
Application Process: To apply for a Ludwick Family Foundation grant, organizations must first submit an Initial Request Form or letter of inquiry. (The Foundation prefers applicants to submit the online Initial Request Form.) Once the form has been submitted, applicants will receive a note acknowledging receipt and the request will be carefully reviewed. The request will either be accepted as pending to be considered further or denied. Applicants will receive the appropriate correspondence.
If you are chosen, the Foundation will request a full proposal.
Deadlines: Initial Request Forms must be submitted by midnight on August 31st (to be considered for the February grant cycle), or submitted by midnight on March 31st (to be considered for the October grant cycle).
Any requests received after the deadline will be considered during the next grant cycle. Upon review of all requests, Board members will determine to which organizations invitations for full proposals will be sent. Applications will usually be mailed to those organizations by October 31st for the February grant cycle, or May 31st for the October grant cycle.
