Each week, Neighborhood Networks provides potential funding sources to help centers develop and improve programs and services. Featured this week is the Comerica Charitable Foundation.
Comerica Incorporated is a financial services company headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company is strategically aligned into three major business segments: The Business Bank, The Retail Bank, and Wealth and Institutional Management.
Program Areas: The Comerica Charitable Foundation’s giving priorities of interest to Neighborhood Networks centers include:
- Economic self-sufficiency for low- and moderate-income individuals and families, including:
- Financial literacy.
- Job readiness training.
- Job creation and retention.
- Small business training and development.
- Education, including:
- Financial literacy programs (K-12 and adult).
- Scholarships for students with income needs for studies in business, finance, and growth industries.
- Programs supporting diversity and inclusion.
The foundation supports community needs in its primary markets, which include Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, and Texas.
Targeted Area: Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and West.
Eligibility: Tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service Code, are eligible to apply.
Award Amount: Award amounts vary.
Application Process: To be considered for funding, all proposals should include the following information:
- Background information on the organization and project to be funded.
- The issue, problem, or program the project addresses and how it relates to Comerica’s mission, areas of focus, and criteria.
- The clients, audience, or people to be served by the program.
- How the program is unique from other programs addressing the same needs.
- Expected program outcomes and rationale for the request.
- Key program or deadline results.
- How results will be measured or success determined.
- How the program will be sustained beyond current funding.
All funding proposals must also include:
- The most recent annual report or other information about the organization and current programs.
- Listing of key volunteer board leadership.
- Program and organization budget.
- List of other current or proposed contributors to the organization and the program requesting funding.
- Previous funding received from Comerica or the Comerica Charitable Foundation.
